99.9% Uptime

High-traffic education at national scale

A SoBold-hosted platform serving 8,500+ UK primary schools daily with 99.9% uptime across peak term-time traffic.

Enterprise multisite, simply managed

SoBold hosts a large multisite network for a global accountancy firm with 25 subsites

Mission-critical resilience for financial services

Financial services sites running on a single SoBold-architected platform with geographically separate disaster recovery in Manchester with sub-15-minute failover.

Everything included. Nothing left to chance.

Dedicated hosting isn’t just about uptime. It’s about what happens when things get complicated, traffic spikes, security incidents, geographic redundancy, international audiences. We’ve engineered our platform to handle all of it, with a team that’s accountable end-to-end.

Resilient operationally and by design

Every SoBold hosting environment runs on a dedicated pair of physical servers configured in active failover ensuring your infrastructure has high-performance replication for optimum availability.

The environment runs on the Debian Linux operating system with ProxMox enterprise virtualisation, chosen for stability, security and granular resource control.

Our primary infrastructure is housed in a renewably powered UK data centre, providing data residency within the UK.

For our clients based in the US, Europe or APAC, we build equivalent environments in the appropriate jurisdiction.

Together, our team of hosting engineers who architected the platform and developers who built the application operate as a single accountable team.

Incident response

Every hosting client is covered by defined response and resolution targets.

Critical outages receive a response within 15 minutes and a resolution target of under 2 hours, with 24/7 coverage.

We proactively monitor resource utilisation and scale capacity ahead of demand rather than relying on reactive autoscaling.

Data protection

As standard, daily backups are taken of every site and retained for a minimum of 14 days.

Backups are restorable to the most recent daily snapshot, with backup frequency adjustable to client RPO requirements.

OS and library patching is fully managed through automated security updates, governed by our datacentre’s ISO 27001 information security management system.

Disaster recovery and failover with 99.9% uptime

Real-time replication runs over a private high-performance network between nodes, so an individual hardware event never becomes a customer-facing outage.

For clients requiring geographic redundancy, we can replicate the primary platform to a disaster-recovery node at a secondary UK data centre.

In a full-site failover scenario, the DR environment is ready to serve traffic in under 15 minutes.

Global delivery

For clients with international audiences, we integrate a CDN layer in front of the origin cluster to reduce latency, protect against burst traffic and offload static asset delivery.

Whilst our main hosting infrastructure is based in Cambridge, UK, we also have infrastructure set up across the world and can set up relevant location-based servers accordingly.

Of course! We know how much care and caution it takes to move a website over from one server to another, and we are experts at this.

We have experience moving individual sites as well as large groups of sites, and our team of experts ensures a smooth, risk-free transfer. If you’re interested in migrating to our cloud hosting infrastructure then we’d be happy to explain the migration process in a lot more detail.

A VPS is hosted on one single physical server, while a cloud server is on a virtual partition consisting of multiple physical servers for maximum scalability and high availability.

We benchmark against 99.9% uptime. Our infrastructure uses two physical servers with automatic failover, separate racks and switches, and a dedicated private network for real-time replication. If one server fails, the other takes over seamlessly.

Let’s scope your next project.

Whether you’re in financial services, healthcare, energy or another sector, we start every project with a conversation about your requirements. No commitment, just a discussion about your needs.
